What is Direct Primary Care?

Direct Primary Care (DPC) is a healthcare model where physicians partner with patients to provide medical care under a flat, monthly membership fee.  By moving outside of the administrative burdens of the traditional insurance-based billing system, DPC practices are able to provide a wide spectrum of services in a transparent and affordable manner. Patients also receive a higher level of service such as access to same or next day appointments, relaxed and unrushed office visits, improved communication and a better relationship with their physician.

What are the benefits of the DPC model?

With a DPC membership, you get:

  • Your doctor’s personal phone number. You are able to text or call your doctor directly for medical guidance, even after hours.
  • Complete price transparency. No copays or deductibles ever.  Most routine labs are included in the membership.
  • Wholesale prices on medications and lab testing.
  • On time visits. Patient appointments are at least 30 minutes long.
  • Home visits as indicated or needed.
  • Minor office procedures – joint injections, freezing warts, skin tag removals, laceration repair, etc.
  • Routine physical exams and health screening such as annual physical visit, biometric screening, sports physical, camp physical, and well-child visit.
  • Management of chronic medical conditions, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obesity, insomnia, depression, and anxiety.
  • Treatment of acute illnesses such as infection, rashes, and injuries.
  • Pre-travel consultation including recommendation and/or prescription for travel immunization and medications.
  • Women’s health services including pre-conception counseling, treatment of common menstrual problems, pap smear, counseling on birth control options.
  • Health improvement services such as evaluation and assisting with smoking cessation, weight loss, stress management, and lifestyle changes.

Is DPC for me?

Absolutely! DPC is for everyone who wants a great physician in their corner, working with them to achieve their health goals.  For a fixed monthly membership fee, you can access quality, affordable primary care without the hassle and stress of co-pays, deductibles, and insurer interference.  In most cases, your total annual DPC membership fees is less than your insurance deductible. DPC also works well for people without health insurance.

Will I still need insurance?

Yes. While we offer a wide range of preventative and primary care services, you still need insurance for services outside our scope, such as surgeries, hospital stays, and emergencies. In conjunction with your membership, we suggest a low-cost, high deductible insurance plan to cover emergencies and keep your monthly payments low.  Since you won’t need to hit a deductible to access any of our services, you’re likely to save a significant amount of money a year on healthcare.

Can I cancel my membership?

Yes. If for some reason, you no longer wish to be a member of Complete Care DPC, you can cancel your subscription – no questions asked. We do request that you give us a 30 days heads-up so we can complete any administrative duties required to help with the transition of your care to your new health care provider.

I like the DPC model but I don’t think I can afford it.
